Framedrum meets Flamenco

Mar 24, 2021

Syntia Torres overwriting the original in Berlin, January 29th, 2020 with new performance after looking for traditional drum dance song performed by the Kugluktuk, Nunavut song group "Tauryuit Numiqtiit" in the language of Innuinaqtun. Drum Dancing was almost lost to this community until this group of women started gathering to sing together and carry this ancient tradition forward. Made during Reel Youth’s fourth visit to Kugluktuk, NU, this 2019 series celebrates Inuit musical traditions, culture & landscape. Local youth worked with their elders to record traditional songs (and a contemporary original) and film music videos to accompany them.
